Dear Panel, I was in a relationship with a girl for almost 2 years and just recently she said that she wanted to break up due to the fact that she has had a boyfriend for the last 4 years. She said that the reason was that she wanted to be single and have the college life and go out with friends and not worry about someone else. What should I do and how should I take this? Depressed Young Adult Male, age 21, USA |
Say good-bye. |
Take it like a man and find another woman who is at the same place you are. |

Dear Panel, When he asks what do I know about him...What does he mean? Confused Female, age 27, North America |

I'm not sure what YOU mean! |

He's probably asking if you've Googled him yet. |

Dear Panel, It's been a year since my boyfriend and I broke up. I loved him with all my heart and I honestly thought we were going to get married. Then one day out of the blue he broke up with me. He told me that we would get back together but we haven't and he's turned into a horrible person. I don't know what to do because I love him or at least the person he use to be. I think I need closure on the relationship but I don't know what to do. Please help. So Confused Female |
Nothing says closure like a new relationship...start shopping, girl! |
Time and distance help with closure. The other person being horrible helps too. |

Dear Panel, I am 18-years-old, and have never had a girlfriend. I hear that I am handsome all the time. I do not approach girls, even when I want to. It feels like there is some sort of force field that stops me from talking. Also, I do not like it when girls approach me. I feel very uncomfortable, and leave the situation by ignoring or lying by saying a have a girlfriend. What is my problem, and how can I get over it? Girl ProbMale, age 18 |
Your problem is you're shy. You can try writing a letter, and start off by saying, "I'm sorry I lied, I don't have a girlfriend, but I do think you're cute...." and go on from there. Have a nice day. |
Could it be at all possible that you are gay, or bi sexual? |

Dear Panel, I am supposed to get married in 3 weeks. My fiancé is 37, I am 30. He already has two kids and does not want any more. I do not have any children and I want at least one. Should I marry? Shawna Female, age 30, USA |
No. |
God, I hope we're not too late. NO. NO. NO. Call it off. Honey, this one is a deal-breaker. Best to break it before the wedding than after. And by the way, didn't the subject of kids come up earlier? Didn't warning bells go off then? |

Dear Panel, I am a 14-year-old female. I have always been very mature for my age and I act almost 18. Love is the same way for me. I don't like boys, but if I find anyone attractive at all it's men. This is the first one in real life ever for me. Heath is 21, going on 22, I believe. He works at a coffee shop, and when I come in he smiles and looks at me. I can't help but do the same. I know it's most likely harmless, but I'm not sure if he knows how old I am. There is also not enough evidence for me to be sure he actually has FEELINGS for me. Now it comes to the point where I am going there mainly so I can see him. When he smiles at me I feel something special between us. Do you think he'll wait for me? What's your advice for this situation? For the past month or two it's been going on. This particular weekend though, my heart has been beating fast. Heart Female, age 14, USA |
Wow, you really seem like you're acting at least 18. Or at least 14 1/2. Very mature of you to want to get this guy in jail. Give this guy a break and meet some of those immature 15 year olds. |
Switch to decaffeinated coffee, keep smiling, and learn to distinguish fantasy from reality. Remember, you do not have a relationship with this guy. You have a fantasy life. Don't worry, but don't lie. If you ever do talk - tell him your age. |
This reminds me of some song lyrics, "You must remember this, a kiss is still a kiss; a sigh is just a sigh..." and a smile is just a smile. You're reading too much into it. |
Find a way to age four years. By then, it won't be so freakishly screaming "I'm jail bait"! |

Dear Panel, My boyfriend and I have been going out for 5 months. I recently found out he has to have an arranged marriage due to his religion. He doesn't know much about it so won't talk about it. What do I do? Me Female, age 18, England |
Not much, apparently. |

Dear Panel, I like this guy who I've gone out with before. I just want a sex partner and he looks like the type who would give me some. Does he want the same thing? Jess Female, age 16, Texas |
He's a guy, of course he'll give you some. |
If you want something, go for chocolate. At least until you're old enough to get into sex with some maturity. |

Dear Panel, I am dating someone now who just got out of a three-year relationship. I am obviously the rebound-guy for her, and I don't mind. But I would like to know a good way of not getting hurt at the end of the relationship. I know that she'll seem like it's serious, but it will really just be a continuation of her last relationship. Is there any good way I can slow the relationship down, and make this relationship unique and not just a continuation of the last? College Student Male, age 21, Texas |
Can you maybe date more than 1 person at a time? |
You seem to know how it's all gonna play out, college boy, so why are you asking us? How 'bout you not make so many assumptions, and maybe this prophecy of yours won't be self-fulfilling. |
End the relationship before she does. It won't hurt quite so badly. |
Just accept your fate and have fun while it last. |
Well, if she calls you by her ex's name then end it. |

Dear Panel, My guy says he loves me but doesn't know if it's real. He is afraid of falling in love with someone who will then leave him. He says he needs to find himself but that we should be best friends for now. How do I make him understand that I won't hurt him and really do love him? Lost in Love Female, age 22, USA |
How do YOU know you won't really hurt him. Life is all about finding out. |
Give him time to figure it out - If you love him. |

Dear Panel, I have been in a relationship for eight years. At one time I wanted to marry him and now I am confused because I am not certain that I want to marry him anymore. I am not sure if I love him anymore. What should I do? Stay or Stray Female, age 28, New York |
Time for a trial separation? |
Get married, get divorced. Sound good? If not, I'd suggest not getting married. |

Dear Panel, My sister is 13-years-old and she is dating a 17-year-old guy. I'm 17 and have a boyfriend who is also 17. I don't think that it is right for her to go out with him because she doesn't know what goes through guys minds of that age. Can you tell me if there was a law forbidding this? I am okay with it if it's okay with the law but it doesn't seem like this is right. It's actually kinda gross. Sister Needs Help Female, age 17, USA |
1) It IS gross |
There's no law forbidding dating between a 13-year-old and a 17-year-old. But there is such a thing as common sense, and failing that, parents. Where are they when you need them? |
I think it's only illegal if he's 18, but it's still weird... |
There's no law for love, but there's a law for underage sex. Although I usually say age doesn't matter, she IS a little young so keep a close eye on what she is doing, without being overprotective. |
The law doesn't really step in until he hits 18. Aside from that, it varies from state to state. At her boyfriend's age, dating a girl that young most likely means he's out for sex. The most I can suggest is that you and your boyfriend try and set him on the right track. The one that takes him away from your sister. |

Dear Panel, I really like this boy. He is in the eighth grade and I'm in the seventh. My mother died last summer from cancer and so did his dad! How can I get him to like me? Faith Female, age 13, USA |
Talk to him. Let him know how you feel. |
Some people wouldn't want to base a relationship on their parents dying of cancer. But you might talk with him about his feelings on that, and see if you have other things in common too. |

Dear Panel, I am in love for 2 years and I need to know new ideas to keep my love going well. I need something that when he is far away,he will remember me and want me to be there. Could you please give me the ideas for this? Semi Female, age 22, Dubai |

Here's an idea - get rid of the insecurity first. |

Dear Panel, I am 19-years-old. I've been in a relationship with this boy. Every thing was cool for about a month and 9 days. He use to call me everyday, up until the time we saw each other for the first time. After that day he hasn't called. I'm not ugly or anything. I just want to know why he stopped calling. He tells my cousin he still likes me but he tells her I don't like him as much as I use to. I love this boy to death and he knows this. Why is he treating me this way? Confused Female, age 19, USA |
The mystery's gone. |
Maybe he was expecting.... Jennifer Lopez or maybe even Salma Hayek. Don't you have his number? Why don't you try calling him? |
If the sight of you turns him off, don't you think you're better without him? |

Dear Panel, I want to know if I can break my virginity without having sex? G&D Female, age 20, USA |
Virginity is not something that can break. You cannot pick it up and say "OOPS I dropped it" It's something that can be lost and the only way it can be lost is to have sex. If you don't know this than maybe you shouldn't be having sex or even thinking about it. |
