Dear I'm An Idiot,
No, you're not. You've just met a special person. By special, I
mean someone that's decidedly different than other guys you've dated.
And, you start to wonder if he fell off the moon or if he's too
good to be true.
A Little Insecurity Is Normal
I know the feeling. I felt the same way about my second and now
husband, Ken. When you have a good thing going with someone, you
will always have that little insecurity that creeps in from time
to time that makes you think that the bubble will burst and it will
be all over.
Don't Dwell On It
Just let it pass. It's natural to feel that way. But, don't dwell
on it. Your guy sounds like a wonderful person. Instead of dwelling
on the negative, enjoy every minute you spend with him.
There Are No Guarantees
If love follows and you both decide that you are meant to be life
partners, you'll both know. If it isn't meant to be, you'll find
that out too. Remember, there are no guarantees.
Be Yourself
The best you can do is be yourself . Stay honest. Never pretend
to be something you're not. If he truly loves you, he will love
you for who you are and accept any faults that you might have.
Don't Push Him
The one thing you should refrain from doing is pushing the relationship
faster than it is meant to go. There are men who are capable of
loving one woman forever (although you may find that hard to believe!)
But, men usually take a bit longer than women to realize that they
are in love. You have to be patient.
Most men don't like to be backed in a corner with ultimatums. If
you do that, they usually back farther away. Give him space and
allow him to find out for himself if he is in love and if you are
the girl for him.
I know it's tough. The waiting game is never easy. But, in the
meantime, just have a good time together. You're just starting college.
And, there are so many great things ahead.
Just take each day as it comes and enjoy the ride. The serious
stuff will sort itself out.
