You HAVE Committed

Well, let's see, you said you have been in a relationship for 3 years and are wondering if you should commit – honey, if you have stayed in the relationship THAT long you are committed in some form.

Let Her Go If You're Leading Her On

Do you mean you don't know if you should marry this girl? Have you talked with her about this? Does she want to get married? If she does, and you're not ready DON'T lead her on...let her go and find someone who wants the same thing she does. It's just not fair to her – you seem like a nice guy who doesn't want to hurt anyone – so before you hurt her even more, let go.

You Haven't Found the Right One

Oh bull! There is no right one.

OK, you ask "Is it mentally possible to be incapable to commit or to love anyone longer than a short time?" I don't think so, unless you are TRULY afraid of committment. I myself haven't been in a VERY long term relationship, but that doesn't mean I can't commit; I just haven't found the right person yet. You haven't either.

Don't Settle for Less

But he may not know the right one if he doesn't take some time off from dating to figure out what he wants.

I agree with your friends that you will be ready and know it when the right person comes along. I know that is frustrating to hear because you want your problem fixed pronto, but it may take a while. Trust me, when the right girl comes along, you'll know – just relax and let things go– don't settle for anything less than what you want either!
