Dear Cassidy,
Ouch, this one is a tough one.
Well I'll go with my instincts this time. It's a tough decision
to make and it's one that most teenagers have to face at one point
in their lives.
He's Too Old
The fact that he is six years older than you should be telling
you something right there.
Sure, it's OK to be friends with someone 6 years older than you,
but dating someone who is 23 when you are 17 doesn't always go over
well. I see Ryan as being someone who you can look up to, and who
you can go to with problems. But I don't see Ryan as a good match
for you.
He Should Date Girls His Own Age
It seems to me that Ryan should be dating girls his own age, not
looking for younger girls. Whereas Corey seems to love you a lot.
(I see that because you say he always tries to understand when you
talk to him.) If Ryan was really your best friend, he wouldn't be
moving in on you knowing that you have a steady boyfriend.
Stay with Your Boyfriend
I say stay with Corey, I can't say that you'll stay together with
him forever, but I can say he is better for you now. If you do decide
to stay with Corey, tell Ryan that you do love him, but only as
a friend. If he's really your best friend he should totally understand.
