Do two wrongs make a right?

Judith Answers:

Dear Confuseds & Angrys,

Horrible Together

You two are horrible together. You don't trust each other from the beginning regardless of what you've proven, then you can't take it anymore, then you focus on "getting even" with each other. What happened to you? Why are you so spiteful?

Too Young

Part of it may be that you started dating at such a young age; well, young for Equally Confused & Angry. If I do my calculations right, Equally Confused & Angry was about 18 when you started dating and Confused & Angry was about 23; that is somewhat of a recipe for disaster right there. 18 and 23 are (or should be, at least) very different in terms of self-knowledge, self-respect, goals, relationship experience, and knowledge of the world around you.

Those years from 18-23 are years of such rapid change; it would be very difficult for the two of you to grow and change at the same pace during the last four years. Has ANYTHING held you together?

Break Up

Charlie No need to break up – they should just move out for now.

My advice is to break up. Each of you spend some time being single and learn to be yourself without the other person. Sorry that it is so harsh, but I just don't hear any reason in your letters for you to stay together.
