The "Spinsterhood" Myth

I am 31 and single. Never have been married. I have had several relationships some of which I think I could have written movies about.

I am strongly opposed to this view society has that a woman who is single must live a miserable existance. I am very independent and have put myself through graduate school. I have tended to date younger guys because they are more fun!!! However, this also makes a serious relationship difficult.

I Was in Love

I have truly been in love once. It was an interracial relationship and he married someone he wasn't in love with because that was the easier thing for him to do. Although he broke my heart, I learned a lot about love, sex, and relationships from him. I am truly enjoying being single while I still am. I know it won't last forever!

Don't Expect Fulfillment from Others

I think someone has to truly fulfill themselves and not expect it from someone else. Another person won't complete you. I think the best relationships are the ones you go into feeling great about yourself and the relationship just adds to your happiness. I think there is something to be learned from everyone who comes into your life and it is important to look for the lesson...even when things don't turn out the way you hoped.

Honesty and Humor

I am brutally honest. I don't mind telling people exactly what I think. I also have a great sense of humor and can deliver a message in a way people can hear.

By the Way...

And did I mention I have a Masters degree in Counseling??
